Description: At the conclusion of this symposium, participants will be able to:
Review the natural history of GERD and the potential complications from untreated reflux
Describe the incidence of Barrett’s esophagus risk of adenocarcinoma and screening strategies
Identify atypical manifestations of GERD and the treatment challenges that these present
Discuss new information associating sleep disturbances with unrecognized nocturnal gastroesophageal reflux
Describe treatment strategies for reducing gastrointestinal risk in patients who require nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
