Description: At the conclusion of this symposium, participants will be able to:
Integrate research data as they relate to the mechanisms of pharmacological intervention in the vascular wall
Describe the vascular benefits of HDL-C raising and further LDL-C lowering
Explain the suboptimal level of success in clinical practice of getting patients at risk for CVD to current NCEP treatment goals for the management of high LDL-C
Discuss epidemiological data on low HDL-C as an emerging risk factor
List the various classes of drugs used to treat dyslipidemia showing how combination therapy could be used for plaque regression, restoration, and disease prevention
