Description: At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
Discuss basic EKG concepts
Demonstrate techniques of interpreting an EKG, including leads, AXIS, and rhythm pattern
Describe and identify normal EKGs
Relate EKG waveforms to the cardiac cycle

The Basic 12-Lead EKG Workshop is designed to help students understand the basic scientific principles of electrocardiography. Emphasis is placed on the reason for the appearance of the normal EKG, so that students can recognize and understand EKG patterns associated with common cardiac disorders, such as axis deviation, chamber enlargement, bundle branch blocks, and ischemia.
