Description: At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to: Discuss common “errors” in public and/or medical speaking, how to engage an audience Discuss how to effectively use the tools you have available Explain how to use PowerPoint without reading or boring your audience Demonstrate how to field questions effectively Explain what to do if your equipment fails
Of all the activities people fear most, speaking is ranked as one of the most feared. Medical practitioners are frequently called upon to speak to audiences, either in a small group setting or in a larger forum. In this workshop, participants will learn the dos and don’ts of public speaking, how to create a PowerPoint presentation, and how to present effectively. Participants will work on computers to create and deliver a presentation. Participants will also receive an interactive CD helping them with home PowerPoint presentations, as well as a personal videotape of their work in the session.
