Description: At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to: List the agents available for procedural sedation Discuss the JCAHO requirements for performing procedural sedation Explain the indications and contraindications for the use of these agents
Procedural sedation is often necessary to evaluate and treat patients in the emergency. Practitioners who do procedural sedation must be knowledgeable about the indications, contraindications and side effects of these agents. They must also be aware of the requirements surrounding the use of these agents. This lecture will cover all these issues.
