Description: At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to: List the causes of angina pectoris in the young patient Discuss current concepts linking migraine headaches and stroke with interatrial cardiac defects Discuss current research in stem cell transplantation as treatment for cardiovascular disease Describe the current understanding in linkage between serum C-reactive protein and cardiovascular disease Explain “ALWAYS and NEVER” in clinical cardiology practice Discuss the current role of serum cystatin C in cardiovascular disease
The goal of Cardiology Snapshots is to provide the physician assistant with succinct, clinically relevant information on selected topics, both “new” and “old”. Topics include: “Angina Pectoris in the Young Patient”, “The Linkage of Migraine Headaches and Stroke with Interatrial Cardiac Defects”, “What Are the Early Data of Stem Cell Therapy in Heart Disease?”, “The Potential Role of Serum Cystatin C in Cardiovascular Disease”, “Should the Serum C-Reactive Protein Level Influence our Treatment?” and “Clinical Pearls: Always and Never in Clinical Cardiology”.
