Description: At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to:
Identify intimate partner violence (IPV) when the patient does not offer a history of abuse
Document IPV for effective care and forensic support
Refer IPV patients appropriately
Provide for patient safety and validation
Explain that manual strangulation is not uncommon as a form of IPV physical assault.

IPV is a common but often overlooked component of injured patients as well as patients with chronic diseases and mental health problems. This presentation will provide an overview of IPV as a health problem.
