The diagnosis and treatment of chronic wounds has undergone tremendous advances in the past several years. However, most practitioners receive no training in this rapidly expanding field. This session will first highlight the important aspects of wound healing. The etiology of chronic wounds will be presented followed by the basic core principles which every practitioner who sees chronic wound patients should know. Finally, a brief overview of advanced wound care therapies will be presented.
