Description: At the conclusion of this symposium, participants will be able to:
Moderate a clinical conference on the various types of chronic constipation emphasizing pathophysiology and differential diagnosis
Present an overview of the physiology of the chloride channel in the regulation of intestinal fluid secretion and understand the mechanism of action of lubiprostone as a chloride channel activator
Present an evidence-based appraisal of the efficacy and safety of currently available drugs including prokinetic agents in the treatment of chronic constipation
