Description: At the conclusion of this symposium, participants will be able to: Differentiate depressive clinical symptoms consistent with bipolar spectrum illnesses from unipolar depression Recognize co-morbidities that often confound accurate diagnosis of bipolar depression in adults adolescents and children Identify evidence-based options for pharmacologic management of bipolar depression Strategize best practices to avoid switching into mania when treating bipolar depression and to attain optimal adherence over the course of therapy
