PAs: A Perfect Fit for Developing World    Home

Description: At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to:
describe the incredible opportunity and privilege of a PA to provide healthcare in the developing world
discuss how our training as diverse mid level providers is accepted and well suited for heathcare in the developing world
describe the obstacles of healthcare delivery in the developing world and the ingenuity that can overcome many of those obstacles
list the vast number of organizations that send teams of health care providers most notably PAs to the developing world

This presentation will feature the personal experiences of two physician assistants who have provided healthcare in the developing world most recently in Mexico, India and Zambia, Africa. They will discuss the advantages of training healtcare provision capabilities of the physician assistant, the obstacles to healthcare provisioni the developing world and the myriad of means by which those obstacles can be overcome. The speakers will present an overview of several organizations that specifically are recruiting volunteer physician assistants for short term mission trips and the importance for follow up of national partners in the developing world where physician assistants serve.
